Independent Living is a goal and a way of life for many people with disabilities. It is having opportunities to make informed decisions and having choices to pursue the goals you choose. Attitudes and physical barriers limit these choices for Americans with disabilities.
Centers for Independent Living were created to change those attitudes and eliminate barriers. Centers for Independent Living work with individuals with all types of disabilities. They are primarily staffed by people with disabilities who have confronted those attitudes and barriers and are committed to sharing those experiences with others with disabilities who can benefit from.
