9-11 Butterfly Garden Memorial

The Alliance believes in giving back to our community. Over the past year we have raised money by co-sponsoring a walk for Pakistan flood victims, held the Healing Hands for Haiti fundraiser, raised money for victims of sexual assault, sponsored a holiday food drive, gave toys to Edison families that lost their homes due to a fire and for the 2nd year in a row had an arbor day celebration where we beautified the community by planting 25 trees.  These efforts would not be possible without the support of the Reform Church of Highland Park, The NJ Tree Foundation, The Edison Parks and Recreation Dept, New Roads School and all of the wonderful Alliance members and volunteers for their hard work and support.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of 9-11.  The Alliance with the support of The Reform Church of Highland Park, The NJ Tree Foundation, Parker Gardens and AdVision Promotions will be building a 9-11 Butterfly Garden Memorial. The memorial will be located on the grounds of the church and will have many different species of plants and flowers to attract the butterflies.  Butterflies in almost all cultures symbolize hope, we felt this would be a meaningful way to pay tribute and to always remember those who were lost on 9-11.  The Alliance will sponsor an event to be held at the church on September 11th which will include reflection, poetry and music and of course butterflies!
