Four Core Services

Independent Living Skills The Alliance provides Independent Living Skills instruction in the areas of budgeting, use of publicYoung people sitting around table transportation , activities of daily living, preparation of driving tests and others skills that emphasize independence in a person’s home and community.

Information & Referral Through our large data base we are able to connect individuals and families to services and resources in their community.

Individual Advocacy The Alliance staff assists individuals by providing the skills to advocate for themselves while also offering one on one assistance.

Systems Advocacy The Alliance supports county based advocacy groups and workshops that create changes on the local, county and state level that affect the lives of all people with disabilities.

Peer Support The Alliance offers monthly support groups and workshops offering people with disabilities opportunities for friendship while exploring options to improve their lives.

What Else - In addition the Alliance offers the following programs:

Career Track Program - a 9 week job readiness certificate program

Crochet Group - Learn to crochet with Anju

Theatre Group- Meets twice a month @ the Alliance office

Young Adult Group - meets monthly @ the Reform Church in Highland

Young Adult Advocacy Group - meets monthly @ the Alliance office

Alliance Volunteer Program - Work on improving your typing skills, fundraising, mailings, etc.

Access Link Assessments

The Self Project - Independent Living Skills training for people who are blind or visually impaired over the age of 55

Medical Students - Volunteer for a informal conversation about disability awareness/sensitivity with 1st year medical students.  Share your personal stories and experiences that you have had in the medical field. 

The Alliance offers workshops on topics related to Health and Wellness including nutrition classes, vision screenings, health fairs, etc

Social Recreation - Contact Nybil and Florence for upcoming trips including Plays in the Park, a Summer Dance, a weekly Chess Club and more!! 

Community - The Alliance prides itself on providing it's members the opportunity to give back to the community.  The Alliance has participated in a walkathon for Pakistan, Healing Hands for Haiti, food, clothing and toy drives along with beautifying the environment by planting trees every Arbor Day.
