More than 827,000 New Jersey residents (and nearly 4.7 million nationwide) rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) each month to help put food on the table.
But starting November 1st, many SNAP beneficiaries, including people with disabilities and older adults, will face interruption of benefits due to the federal government shutdown.
SNAP helps low-income families afford nutritious food essential to health and well-being. An interruption in these benefits could mean going without meals, cutting back on other essentials, or struggling to reach food pantries.
Senator Cory Booker’s office is asking ACI to collect personal stories from New Jersey residents about how SNAP impacts your life and what losing it would mean for you and your family.
Your story matters!
Will you still be able to afford the food you need?
Can you access food pantries or other resources?
What other expenses would you need to cut back on?
Sharing your experience will help Senator Booker advocate for SNAP recipients across New Jersey.
Submit your story to: Bianca_Markovski@booker.senate.gov and be sure to CC lkoppisch@adacil.org. Please include your name, town, and contact information.
Important Reminder
According to mynjhelps.gov, SNAP benefits loaded onto your Families First EBT card before October 31, 2025 will still be available after November 1st. Check your balance at NJFamiliesFirst.com or call 800-997-3333 before shopping.
