Job Title: Independent Living/Employment Specialist

Salary: $35,000 annual
Pay: $19.25 per hour
General Job Description
The Alliance Center for Independence, a leading grass-roots disability organization in Central Jersey is currently seeking an Independent Living/Employment Specialist who is enthusiastic, passionate and creative in assisting people with disabilities reach their employment and independent living goals.
Responsibilities
Developing group/individualized pre-employment-based lesson plans
Teaching individuals the skills related to employment and independent living
Writing reports
Communicating with ACI staff, local businesses, counselors and family/caregivers
Required Qualifications
Enthusiastic, creative, flexible, and hard-working with a good sense of humor
Excellent documentation, organization, and writing skills
Experience with using Google Drive
Experience with social media is a plus
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
Independent-minded, but also comfortable working with a team
Strong verbal communication skills - Able to teach and explain new concepts and information in a classroom setting
Experience working with individuals with disabilities
College degree preferred, but will consider someone with appropriate experience
Traveling within Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties is required
Candidates will be subject to drug testing as well as a background/fingerprint check
Minimum of 21 years of age
Successfully complete DDD-mandated staff training & professional development training
Able to complete CPR and first-aid certifications
Perform other duties as assigned, including one on one instruction
Preferred Qualifications

Fluency in Spanish is a plus
Previous teaching experience (teacher’s assistants, retired educators, etc). Teaching degree not required.
