ACI's Social Rec Group Tours the Newark Museum
ACI's Social Recreation Program recently enjoyed a grand highlight tour of the Newark Museum. The tour started with various art pieces from such backgrounds as Japanese, Native American, African and Early American, followed by a special tour of the word famous Ballantine House, which at the time was at the center of the country's industrial movement. The group even got a chance to see NASA's newly constructed 7-layered golden mirror telescope, which will ultimately replace the Hubble Telescope. Thank you to the Newark Museum for providing this free tour to our group! Everyone had a great time!
Youth Game Night
ACI recently held it's first ever Youth Game Night for on Friday, July 24th, 2015! It was an exciting night of competitiveness as the group played a fun and fast paced magnetic board game YIKERZ, as well as Tumbling Towers and a huge ice-breaker dice game. ACI plans on holding these youth groups every month, so stay tuned!
Plays in the Park: Oklahoma!
On Saturday, July 18th, 2015, members of our Social Rec group attended a Plays in the Park viewing of Oklahoma! The play was set in the Old Western town of Claremore, Oklahoma in 1906, as cowboys and farmers fought for their love of a local farm girl in this romantic love story. Our consumers really enjoyed the evening as some have said that this is one of their more favorite events to attend. Thank you to everyone who came out to join us!
Karaoke & Kerfuffle Game Night
Last Thursday night on June 18th, 2015, ACI's Social Recreation Program held a "Karaoke & Kerfuffle Game Night" where consumers joined us for a musical night of singing songs! Woodbridge Garden Club Shows ACI Members How to Grow Basil
On Wednesday June 10th, 2015, ACI's Social Recreation Program held a Basil Bowl Potting Class, facilitated by Jean Gall of the Woodbridge Garden Club. Participants had a very hands-on approach to growing basil and learned some interesting basil facts, such as their ability to grow up to 51 inches in height. They also learned the many different varieties, using red worms to improve soil quality and kitchen composting. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
ACI's Social Rec Group Visits George Street Playhouse
Last month, ACI's Social Recreation Group enjoyed a wonderful theatrical viewing at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick. Over a dozen ACI consumers joined us as they watched Ernest Shackleton Loves Me, which was about the never give up attitude of a devoted single mom in present-day New York City, as she fought to survive insomnia all while falling in love with 19th century time traveler Ernest Shackleton, as he and his crew fight to stay alive on a mission to cold Antarctica!
