The Alliance Center for Independence (ACI), a non-profit disability organization located in Edison, has partnered with ShopRite of Old Bridge to help people with disabilities and their families facing food insecurity.

ACI volunteers will be on hand on Thursday, March 28th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM to learn valuable job skills while bagging your groceries. Tips or donations will be greatly appreciated!!! Proceeds will go towards the ACI CommUnity Market.

Day of Mourning Vigil 2024

As part of a nation-wide Day of Mourning, ACI, along with disability advocates, will be holding a vigil to honor the lives of disabled people murdered by families and caretakers. The vigil will address violence against people with disabilities and speak out against cultural prejudices and send the message that disability is not a justification for violence. Our lives are worth living!

The Autistic Self Advocacy Network, Not Dead Yet and the National Council on Independent Living held the first Day of Mourning in 2012. This is a national event with cities around the country participating.

Join us for light snacks and hot chocolate in the ACI office after the vigil.

Free Flu Vaccines

Flu season is here...time for YOU to get vaccinated!

Adults over 60 years old and those with chronic health conditions are particularly at risk to get the flu. To avoid complications associated with the flu, including hospitalization and death, the CDC urges everyone to get a flu vaccine.

ACI, USAging, and Crown Family Medical Care will be having a free flu vaccine event this winter. Everyone who receives a vaccine and completes a short survey will receive a Holiday Express Personal Health and Hygiene bag or a $20.00 ShopRite gift card (while supplies last).

This project is supported by the Administration for Community Living (ACL, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through USAging as part of a financial assistance award to USAging totaling $74,999,835 with 100 percent funding by ACL/HHS. Come get your holiday started early with ACI! The Holiday Express will provide a cheerful night of live music, holiday activities, and food! The event will consist of a dinner of Jersey Mike’s subs, cold drinks and deserts followed by a live holiday concert performed by the Holiday Express Band. The group is made up of professional musicians/singers and is supported by volunteer elves who will interact with the audience. Gift bags will also be provided for each guest and will consist of toiletries, gloves, hats, a warm blanket and other personal items!

Transportation will not be provided. Accommodations made upon request. We encourage our guests to wear a mask.

Help the ACI Community Market by bringing a non-perishable food item to the event. Your donation will help families in need during the holiday season.

Election Day is November 7th. New Jerseyans will go to the polls and choose members of the state senate and state assembly.

Are you a first time voter? Would you like to vote in person, but not sure what to do? Come join ACI and REV UP NJ for our annual Voting Machine Demo Day!

Staff from the Middlesex County Board of Elections will be on hand to demonstrate the latest voting machine. Mary Ciccone of Disability Rights New Jersey will discuss the rights to vote for people with disabilities as well as the proposed the Electronic Ballot Return bill.

The upcoming NJ Statewide Elections are crucial for people with disabilities. Both the state senate and state assembly are up for grabs. There is a lot at stake and our voices need to be heard!

REV UP NJ and the Alliance Center for Independence will be hosting an event to kick off its fall election activities and celebrate the power of the disability vote!

This event will feature speeches by voting rights advocates, resources tables, voting registration, live entertainment by Cory Singer, free ice cream, ShopRite gift card raffles, and giveaways!

Free REV UP NJ t-shirts to the first 100 people!
